For the Energy Rater
NC HealthyBuilt Homes can help you expand your business. How?
- Gain valuable new skills: become an approved HBH inspector by completing training offered by the NC HealthyBuilt Homes program.
- Appeal to a larger market: move beyond energy and indoor air quality issues to provide additional third party review of other green or high performance home features.
- Offer additional services to current clients: Assist the builders you currently provide Energy Star ratings to with new information that helps them tap into new markets.
Your role as an HBH approved inspector:
- What you will be doing: When requested by the builder, an approved inspector will perform inspections of HBH checklist tasks as they are completed by the builder. HBH approved inspectors provide a service to builders who do not want to take pictures or otherwise document construction; the inspector’s approval is the documentation for items on the NC HBH checklist. (future: link to checklist items for inspectors)
- What you will not be doing: HBH approved inspectors will NOT be asked to perform final inspections or certify that a house has met all of the requirements for receiving a certificate from the NC HealthyBuilt Homes program.
NC Solar Center staff members are currently the only personnel who may issue final HBH certification and will assume responsibility for the final inspections required by the NC HealthyBuilt Homes program (unless otherwise agreed to with another organization).
