Cherokee Investment Partners, a NC HealthyBuilt Homes (HBH) member since June of 2005, held an official groundbreaking Monday, April 3, for its National Homebuilder Mainstream GreenHome ™ in Raleigh.
Cherokee's GreenHome™ is the first home in the country to be built in an ordinary subdivision under the National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) Model Green Home Building Guidelines. In addition, the home will be certified by the Energy Star and NC HBH programs, among others.
The Mainstream GreenHome ™ showcases numerous innovative, environmentally friendly features, which Cherokee said they hope will encourage the mainstreaming of sustainable homebuilding practices nationwide. The GreenHome ™ is intended to show that such construction is compatible with conventional building.
